![]() New units can be found in treasures, bought from shops, and won from winning the Fort Condor matches. Yuffie needs to best all Rank 1 players to become eligible to rave Rank 2 players, and after besting them she can face Rank 3, and finally the Grandmaster. The discovery quest for completing the minigame is called " Mastering Fort Condor". Spells can be cast outside the player's controlled area, making boards with many attack spells especially potent as they can be used to fire off spells right at the enemy's HQ even when the player doesn't have any units near to it. Spells are cast by holding and moving the reticule to a target. The player's materia loadout depends on the board in use. Each board offers some magic spells to use: offensive, defensive, or curative. Maximum ATB, starting ATB, and ATB recharge rate, depend on the the type of board. ![]() Each unit requires different amounts of ATB to deploy, stronger units requiring more than weaker units. Following this, the player can place the strongest unit available (indicated by the higher number) to defeat the enemies. When deploying an available unit, it will indicate over enemy unit's HP bars if the unit is advantaged against them, or if the enemy is advantaged against the unit. Defense is strong against Vanguard, Vanguard is strong against Ranged, and Ranged is strong against Defense. There are three types of units: Defense, Vanguard or Ranged. Pushing the units onwards captures more of the field, allowing the player to place units closer and closer to the enemy's tower(s), and even right at the towers when they already have units attacking it. While having more units in a loadout allows for more variety, a smaller set makes it easier to start with the desired units since it is only ever possible to choose from up to four random units-for specific strategies that depend on the player sending out units in a certain order, the player may need to re-try the match until they get the desired pattern. When enough ATB bars are available for a unit (ATB speed and amount depend on the board in use), it can be deployed from the loadout by moving the cursor to the desired spot, pressing to open the menu, and selecting it. The number of units in one's loadout is 5–8, depending on the board in use. Players can deploy units anywhere within the area they currently control. The sudden death phase also only lasts one minute if the player can't win within this time limit, they will lose. In hard mode, outposts don't affect victory: only destroying the HQ does. The victory conditions are different between normal mode and hard mode in normal mode, if it is a tie when the time runs out, the sudden death phase kicks in, and the first to destroy a tower wins. The goal is to destroy the opponent's headquarters, or be one who destroyed the most towers when the timer expires (Easy/Normal mode only). The player can see the opponents board and units before committing to theirs, allowing them to pick the best units to counteract what the opponent has.Įach player has two weaker outposts on sides of their end of the field, and a headquarters in the center of them. ![]() Players pick their units before the match. ![]()
